The mission of the Skip Foundation is to empower and engage people around the world to develop “skips” for multimedia content under a free license or in the public domain, and to disseminate it effectively and globally.
Think of it like Wikipedia for video content skips.
Motion Picture Skips Library by Skip Foundation will be licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 License.
Companies like Pure Flix and VidAngel will be the founding licensees of the Skip Foundation’s Intellectual Property (IP).
Agreement for Posting New Skips
When people post new skips, they will agree to something like the following (a la Wikipedia):
Required Intellectual Property
VidAngel is planning to donate the IP necessary to start the Skip Foundation with the approval of the bankruptcy court. The following IP will allow the Skip Foundation to maintain a database of skips and allow the creation of new skips for new titles.
In order to fund the first year of operation, it is anticipated that the Foundation will require around $300k for development, legal fees and operations. Further funding will come via tax-deductible donations from the community and from companies who benefit from the data resource.
The Skip Foundation will be led by a board of industry and charity representatives. They will appoint leadership for the foundation who will chart the development of the community.
